Ok, so let's get this straight...
Hi everyone.
I had a little...argue, with one of my guildies, and I made this thread to let you decide who is right.
The thing we were argueing is this: He was trying to explain to me how req 8 sword will deal more damage then, say, req 13 sword, if you have, say, 14 on swordsmanship, while I was trying to explain that, if you fullfill requirements of both swords, their req is irrelevant, and they will deal same damage.
So, if you have 14 on swordsmanship, you'll deal same damage with both req 13 and req 8 swords (I'm talking about plain swords here, no damage mods, and used on target that has neither weakness or resistance to damage type of that sword). Of course, he is saying how that is wrong and how req 8 sword would somehow deal more damage and even have bigger chance for critical strike.
So, which one of us is right?

This rumor is as old as the game is. How it's persisted is beyond me.

Thanks for replies. I knew long ago this was correct but he (and some others) just didn't wanted to believe me. Btw their argument was: "Lower req deals more damage, that's why it's more expenssive"

I had the same argument with an alliance member. I was in the position you are in. He said that he tested with different weapons with over one thousand attacks and the results showed that a lower req weapon dealt more damage. I was still not convinced. Then the weapons collector argument comes into play. "Why do you think people buy Q8 weapons?"
I'm stubborn, but I know I'm right.

It clearly states on the sword itself that it will deal 15-22 damage as standard if you meet the requirement. I don't think it can be much clearer.
Oddly enough I found someone in my guild telling another (both have been playing for about 2 years) that exact same thing. Thankfully I was on to set them straight.
The lack of intelligence, or even common sense, of some people really scares me.

people prefer lower requirement weapons so that they need to allocate less points to the attribute to get the most out of the weapon.
For example I could be using a sword, but no swordsmanship skills:
If I had a req.13 sword I'd have to use a lot of attribute points just to get my sword to deal the damage and thereby weakening whatever other skills I was using.
If I had a req.8 sword instead I would be able to put points into the attributes of the other skills and have a stronger build.

Eh.. Semi-True, but only in rare cases.
The real reason low requirement weapons are expensive, is because it's a status symbol.
